How a battery-free switch talks to your MESHLE network

The press generates the energy

Every click on the rocker moves a tiny magnet through a coil inside the switch. That motion produces a short electrical pulse — enough to power one Bluetooth transmission. No batteries. No wiring. No mains connection.

Bluetooth carries the command to the nearest mesh device

The switch sends its command over the air to the nearest MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh device within 15–20 m. That device — a driver, a controller, a sensor, a gateway — becomes the switch's entry point into the network.

The MESHLE mesh executes and relays

From that entry point, the command hops from node to node across the MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh network. Turn a single fixture on. Trigger a scene three floors down. Master-off the whole floor. Every action runs locally on the mesh — no cloud, no internet required.

How can a switch work without a battery?

It uses kinetic energy harvesting — EnOcean technology. Pressing the rocker moves a small magnet through a coil, generating a short electrical pulse that powers one Bluetooth transmission. No batteries, no capacitors to top up, no external power. The energy comes from the press itself.

What's the range of a battery-free switch?

The switch itself reaches roughly 15–20 metres to the nearest MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh device. Once the command lands on that device, it hops from node to node across the entire MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh network — so a switch in one room can trigger a scene several floors away.

How many switches and lights can I combine?

One switch can control a single light, a group, or a saved scene across the whole building. And multiple switches can drive the same fixture — like a traditional two-way circuit, but without the wiring. Add or remove switches from the MESHLE app whenever the layout changes.

Does it need internet or a phone to work?

No. Configuration happens once in the MESHLE app, then everything runs locally on the MESHLE Bluetooth Mesh network. Your Wi-Fi can be off, the router down, the cloud unreachable — the switch still controls its paired lights.

Can I install it on an existing wall without construction work?

Yes. There are no cables to pull and no boxes to mount. Stick the switch to the wall with its adhesive backing, or fit it into an existing plate. It works on painted plaster, tile, glass, brick, or wood.
