Create Your First Scene in the MESHLE App
A scene captures a lighting state you love and lets you recall it in a single tap across a whole group. In this guide, you'll select a group, set your devices the way you like them, and save that look as a scene in the MESHLE App. Save it as a favorite and it lives on your phone, ready in a tap. Save it from the Device tab instead and it's written onto the mesh devices themselves, so it runs without your phone or an internet connection.
Create your first scene step by step
-
Select a group — In the MESHLE App, open the group you want to control, or use the main group so every device responds together.
-
Set the devices the way you like them — Adjust brightness, color, and white for the devices in the group until the lighting looks exactly right.
-
Save it as a favorite scene — In the main menu, tap the favorite star icon, then tap plus. Your look is saved as a scene on the smartphone, ready to recall in a tap.
-
Optional: store the scene on your devices — Want the scene to run without your phone? Go to Start, open the Device tab, and tap plus. The devices' current state is saved onto the mesh nodes, so the scene runs on its own.
-
Optional (advanced): create an animated scene — In the Device tab, long-press the plus button to open the animation editor. Edit each device on the timeline and save the animation to that scene slot.
Frequently asked questions
What is a scene in the MESHLE App?
A scene saves a lighting state, such as the color, brightness, and on/off state of a group of devices, so you can recall the whole look in a single tap instead of adjusting each device by hand.
What's the difference between a favorite scene and a device-stored scene?
A favorite scene is the quick way to save a look: tap the star icon in the main menu, then plus, and it's stored on your smartphone. A device-stored scene is saved from the Device tab (tap plus there), which writes the devices' current state onto the mesh nodes. The favorite lives on your phone; the device-stored version lives on the hardware and runs on its own.
Do scenes work without internet or my phone?
It depends on where the scene is stored. A favorite scene lives on your smartphone, so you recall it from the app. To run a scene without your phone, save it from the Device tab so it's written onto the MESHLE mesh devices; once stored there it runs with no internet connection and can be triggered even when your phone isn't nearby, for example by a wireless switch or a schedule.
How do I create an animated scene?
In the Device tab, long-press the plus button to open the animation editor. Each device gets its own timeline, so you can build color fades and moving effects across the group, then save the animation to that scene slot.
How can I trigger a saved scene?
You can recall a scene from the MESHLE App, from a battery-free wireless switch, on a schedule, or by a sensor. With a MESHLE Gateway you can also trigger scenes by voice through Alexa, Google Home, or Apple Home.
Can a scene be the default when a light turns on?
Yes. A scene can be set as a group's default state or triggered automatically by a timer or sensor, so your lights come on exactly the way you want without any manual step.
